Because of Jim's vision and commitment to creating a venue for children and adults with special needs to receive therapy through horseback riding, VARHA has become a leading state of the art facility. To honor this man, and his tireless efforts to promote VARHA, the board adopted a new name for the rider scholarship fund: The Dr James Ham Riding Scholarship Fund.

VARHA is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and fundraisers to offer an invaluable service to children and adults with disabilities.  The income from riders accounts for approximately 10% of our annual operating budget and no rider is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

VARHA depends highly on volunteers to assist with our classes. Many of our riders require two to three volunteers during each class.  Each class session has four to six riders and is one to two hours in length. In addition, we need volunteers to assist with barn cleaning, facility and grounds maintenance, and office work.

Class Aides service a vital role for VARHA. If you are interested in applying, click the link for more information.
